1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a reading challenge for young children and their families. Reading aloud is one of the best ways to encourage early literacy and a love of reading in young children, and it’s never too early to start!

How does it work? Read! Read together at home, in the park, upside down, under the blankets–read anywhere and everywhere. Keep track of the books you read together. Pick up a paper reading log at the library, print your own.
