Novel Databases

With the Novel Databases you can Search full text magazines, General Science Collection, Funk and Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia and Ebsco Animals to name a few. The kids will enjoy the Searchasaurus Map and there is even a Spanish Language Interface page. Please call the Potsdam Public Library at (315)265-7230 for your username and password. This is required in order to access the Novel databases.

NOVEL is currently supported with temporary federal Library Services and Technology Act funds. New Century Libraries is an important statewide funding initiative currently before the Legislature that proposes permanent state funding for NOVEL."

Northern NY Historical Newspapers

The Northern New York Library Network is providing access to a growing database featuring Historical Newspapers from around Northern NY that can be searched online. The newspapers are from several locations through out the seven counties that the Northern NY Library Network covers. You don't need to call the Library for access to this database; a user name and password are not required.

The Wilson OmniFile Full Text Select Database contains over one thousand select English-language periodicals published in the United States and elsewhere. Full text is provided for all periodicals (with accompanying indexing and abstracting). Publications indexed include the leading popular and general-interest magazines; professional, research and scholarly journals; trade and industry magazines; literary and political reviews; and little magazines. Detailed abstracts describe the content and scope of the source articles.

This database is provided by the Northern New York Library Network to its member libraries with funds from the New York State Regional Bibliographic Database program.
